USFL schedule Week 10: What football games are on today? TV channels, times, scores

The USFL is entering the final week of its 10-week regular season, and there are no longer any unbeaten teams.

The Birmingham Stallions lost for the first time in Week 9. Despite being heavily favored against the Houston Gamblers, their 1-7 divisional rival pulled off the biggest upset in the upstart league’s short history.

As such, the Stallions will enter Week 9 with an 8-1 record, and instead of focusing on an undefeated season, their focus will shift to the postseason.

The USFL’s four-team playoff field is now set, as the final available playoff spot was clinched by the New Orleans Breakers in Week 9. They will play the Stallions in the postseason while the New Jersey Generals will square off against the Philadelphia Stars in both Week 10 and the first round of the playoffs.

Saturday USFL games TV channels, live streams

Here’s how to watch the two USFL games that will be played Saturday.

Generals vs. Stars

  • Kickoff: 12 pm ET
  • TV channel: NBC
  • Live stream: fuboTV
  • Odds (via Sports Interaction): Generals -2.5 (-120) | Stars +2.5 (-120)

The Generals and Stars are set to play against one another in the first round of the 2022 USFL playoffs, so it’s fair to wonder whether they will rest players in this contest. Both sides surely want to win, but neither want to lose a key playmaker on either side of the ball at this stage in the season. They also don’t want to tip their hand about potential plans for their playoff meeting in Canton.

As such, it’s hard to say exactly what will happen in this week’s game. In all likelihood, the Stars will give backup quarterback KJ Costello some reps as they did against the Maulers while the Generals could spell De’Andre Johnson and Luis Perez with third-string quarterback Kyle Lauletta.

Either way, expect to see a lot of backups get significant action in this game, whether it’s for the entirety of the contest or during the second half.

Bandits vs. Stallions

  • Kickoff: 4 pm ET
  • TV channel: Fox
  • Live stream: fuboTV
  • Odds (via Sports Interaction): Stallions -4.5 (-120) | Bandits +4.5 (-120)

The Stallions’ dreams of an undefeated season came to an end in Week 9 when they lost to the Gamblers despite being 12.5-point favorites. Now, the USFL’s de facto home team will have to settle for competing for the league’s inaugural title instead of an undefeated season.

It’s unclear how Birmingham will manage its roster in Week 10. On one hand, they have the No. 1 seed in the South Division locked up, so they could opt to sit some of their starters. On the other hand, Skip Holtz may want to see his team respond to a loss, so the likes of J’Mar Smith, Bo Scarbrough and Scooby Wright could see action against the Bandits.

Speaking of Tampa Bay, their 17-6 loss to New Orleans eliminated them from playoff contention, so they are playing for pride. Jordan Ta’amu is coming off a strong game with his legs (90 rushing yards) and hit some big passes. He will provide the Stallions with a test as he looks to prove that he deserves a shot to join an NFL roster.

Sunday USFL games TV channels, live streams

Here’s how to watch the two USFL games that will be played Sunday.

Maulers vs. Panthers

  • Kickoff: 12 pm ET
  • TV channel: USA
  • Live stream: fuboTV
  • Odds (via Sports Interaction): Panthers -2.5 (-120) | Maulers +2.5 (-120)

This might be the only game in the USFL where both teams have something for which to play. Both of these teams have woeful 1-8 records, and the loser of this contest will officially earn the title of the USFL’s worst team.

The Panthers shut out the Maulers 24-0 earlier in the season and have a much better offense than the Maulers. Michigan averages 19.8 points per game thanks to their strong run game headlined by Reggie Corbin, Stevie Scott and Cameron Scarlett.

Meanwhile, Pittsburgh is alternating Vad Lee and Roland Rivers III at quarterback and have averaged just 14 points per game this season. Unless the Maulers can slow down the Panthers’ running game, they will have trouble beating Michigan.

Gamblers vs. Breakers

  • Kickoff: 8:30 pm ET
  • TV channel: FS1
  • Live stream: fuboTV
  • Odds (via Sports Interaction): Breakers -4.5 (-120) | Gamblers +4.5 (-120)

The Breakers earned the fourth and final USFL playoff spot with their win over the Bandits in Week 9. They are now set to play Birmingham — who they have lost to twice — in the playoffs and will likely spend a lot of time game-planning to beat their rivals.

New Orleans quarterbacks Kyle Sloter and Zach Smith are both banged up, so Larry Fedora may opt to rest them this week and let Shea Patterson start. Patterson had his share of struggles with the Panthers, so Jordan Ellis, Anthony Jones and New Orleans’ running game will have to carry the team.

As for the Gamblers, their defense played an excellent game against the Stallions to earn a signature win for Kevin Sumlin’s squad. Chris Odom and Donald Payne will need to step up again to give Houston’s lackluster offense a chance to stick with the Breakers. But if New Orleans uses its third-string quarterback, the Gamblers could finish the season with back-to-back wins.
