No one ever told Lauren Briggs high school golf was going to be easy.

Briggs, who just completed her sophomore year at Burlington High School, worked her way up through the ranks in youth tournaments, making a name for herself.

After a fabulous freshman season a year ago, Briggs found the going a little tougher this year.

Despite the cold, rainy, windy weather much of the spring, Briggs persevered and was off to a fast start.

But as the season wore on, Briggs found herself busy with a new job and studying for finals take her time — and focus — off of golf.

That didn’t stop Briggs from winning the Southeast Conference championship and qualifying for the Class 4A state tournament for the second straight year.
