🌱 Sachem Daily: Last Chance Animal Rescue’s Golf Outing At Mill Pond

Hello, neighbors. I’m back in your inbox this morning with all the most important things happening in town these days. I’ll get right to it.

First, today’s weather:

Warmer with a few showers. High: 73, low: 59.

Here are the top 3 stories in Sachem today:

  1. Last Chance Rescue to hold eight annual golf fundraiser to save animals. The event will be held on August 1 at Mill Pond Golf Course in Medford .It is the organizations largest fundraiser of the year and golfers can sign up as foursomes or individual tickets can be bought for $175. That includes a round of golf, lunch, contests, and more. Click the link for more information! (Last Chance Animal Rescue)
  2. Angelina Thotam of Sachem High School accepted to prestigious Brookhaven National Lab program. “The high school junior will be investigating the behavior of copper catalysts during methanol formation, which will help the institute to determine the specific nature of the chemical reactions on the metal’s surface. The information from the research will be used to improve the process of making methanol from carbon dioxide. Methanol could be used as a solvent, pesticide or even an alternative fuel source, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.” (Sachem Patch)
  3. ICYMI: Amid pilot shortage, American Airlines cancels service to MacArthur Airport. The announcement came Monday and means the airport will lose one of four airlines that currently fly into the airport. American Airlines released a statement saying, “In response to the regional pilot shortage affecting the airline industry, American Airlines has made the difficult decision to end service. We’re extremely grateful for the care and service our team members provided to our customers in Islip , Ithaca and Toledo, and are working closely with them during this time.”
