Hudson Valley basketball rosters, schedules for BCANY Hoops Festival

A contingent of 21 established and emerging players from Section 1 will compete under the Hudson Valley banner in the 10th annual Basketball Coaches Association of New York Summer Hoops Festival this weekend outside Binghamton.

It’s a three-day showcase for high school boys and girls featuring regional all-star teams from across the state.

Competitors tried out in July and those who made the cut get up to four practices ahead of the event. All of the games will be played in Johnson City School District facilities. All teams will play one game on Friday and three games on Saturday and look to stay alive when elimination games begin on Sunday. There will also be a slam-dunk contest, a 3-point shooting contest, a recruiting seminar and a clinic run by college coaches.

“It’s an opportunity to showcase your ability while playing with some of the best players in Section 1, against some of the best players in New York state,” said Fibble, who is an assistant at North Rockland. “I structured my practices this week to help build chemistry. Monday was all small-sided games, 2-on-2 and 3-on-3 so can actually learn each other. We’ll do some teaching on Tuesday and play on Wednesday. It is important for them to become a team in a short amount of time.”
