JULIET SIERRA was well found in the market and shaped promisingly when runner-up to a useful type on debut at Newmarket recently and she seems sure to improve for that initial experience. She took a keen hold and stayed on well in the closing stages to finish never closer than at the finish and that form sets a good standard in this field. With improvement almost certain, she should prove hard to beat. Resilient Power also showed something to work on first time up, but has plenty of ground to make up on the selection.

ANIERE’S GIRL has improved with each run so far, benefiting from a step up in trip when third over an extended seven furlongs on handicap debut at Beverley nine days ago. That race was run at a strong gallop and produced a congested finish, so the form looks good for the grade, and Anieres Girl seems sure to appreciate this even stiffer test of stamina. She can go well again from the same mark, likely at the expense of last-time-out winner Polly Pott.

THE HOLOCENE has an excellent pedigree and duly landed the odds on her debut at Ripon in May, by no means fully extended to beat one with previous experience in good style. Admittedly, she hasn’t progressed as expected in two starts since, beaten at prohibitive odds both times, but she was perhaps not suited by softer ground than previously at Nottingham last time, and she remains with potential now handicapping. She is well worth persevering with. Control, who has been running consistently well, looks next best.

This looks a good race on paper and the percentage call is to side with NIGWA, who is from a good family and shaped with plenty of promise on debut at this course last month. She only just failed to run down another well-bred type who had shown plenty previously, finishing with a flourish and leaving the impression she has plenty more to offer. This step up in trip is also a positive and she sets a good standard to aim at. Gastronomy is entitled to progress from his recent debut so he’s feared most.

MIDGET MISSION was by far and away the most impressive winner of the evening at Lingfield on Saturday, not having to come off the bridle to record a facile four-length success. Wisely turned out under a penalty, she should take some stopping back on turf if in the same form. Mick Appleby’s Wonderful Thing was much improved switched to front-running tactics when scoring at Leicester last month and heads up the opposition.

DANZA DELLA LUNA powered away to open her account at Pontefract 20 days ago and, despite a hike in the weights, she had so much in hand that day that this progressive filly is fancied to go in again. Chichen Itza, who is bred to be much better than a mark of 77, looks a danger now handicapping after a short break, so it will be interesting to see what goes in the betting.

There are a few in with a shout, but another chance is given to HIYA MAITE, who pushed a useful sort close on his penultimate start over course and distance in May and, although he was a disappointing favorite on his handicap debut at Doncaster last month, it remains early days for Roy Bowring’s charge and he can get back on track down in grade. Bibulous was unlucky not to win over course and distance last month and he’s put forward as the main threat.
