Jackson woman has a shot at the national boxing title

Adrian Jackson will be boxing in the National Golden Gloves tournament in Tulsa, Oklahoma

ALL RIGHT. WE’RE BACK WITH SPORTS. AND COMING UP LATER THIS MONTH, ONE YOUNG LADY FROM JACKSON HAS A CHANCE TO PUT FEMALE BOXERS FROM THE CITY OF SEOUL ON THE MAP. IT’S SOMETHING HASN’T BEEN DONE YET. SO SHE COULD BE THE FIRST. LET’S GET INTO THE RING. INSIDE THE GYM IN MAGNOLIA, MAY, ADRIAN JACKSON IS PUTTING IN WORK, WORKING THE GLOVES AND HER BODY FOR A BIG OPPORTUNITY. SHE WILL COMPETE FOR A NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP IN THE NATIONAL GOLDEN GLOVES TOURNAMENT IN OKLAHOMA LATER THIS MONTH. SHE COULD BECOME THE FIRST WOMAN FROM JACKSON TO WIN A NATIONAL GOLDEN GLOVES TITLE. IT’S A BIZARRO TALK. I WILL SAY I WAS NERVOUS. I MEAN, WHO DOESN’T GET NERVOUS BEFORE THE FIGHT? BUT I JUST KNOW I’M TRYING TOO HARD. AND THE OTHER OPPONENT IS TOO. AND MAYBE THAT IS ONE WIN. SO GO OUT THERE AND GIVE IT ALL I GOT. THE FOREST HILL GRAD PLAYED THREE TEAM SPORTS IN HIGH SCHOOL BUT WAS INTRODUCED TO BOXING AT MAGNOLIA IN MAY IN 2016. AND SHE HAS FALLEN IN LOVE WITH IT. IT’S A SOLO SPORT. I MEAN, I HAVE MY COLORS PEEKING INSIDE ME IN THE RING. IT’S ALL ON ME. SO, I MEAN, I WANT TO SAVE FACE. AND I WANT TO WIN ULTIMATELY. SO IT’S REALLY A BATTLE IN THERE. LIKE IT’S A BATTLE TO THE ENDS AND I WANT TO WIN AND MAKE MY COACH AND MY FAMILY. BUT AT MOST PULLING MYSELF IN THE PAST YEAR, ADRIEN HAS BEEN TRAINING TO START HERE CAREER. SHE IS NOW TWO ONE IN THE RING AND ALREADY HAS THE GOLDEN GLOVES AND MISSISSIPPI STATE TITLE IN THE SUPER HEAVYWEIGHT DIVISION. DESPITE NOT HAVING A TON OF IN-RING EXPERIENCE, ADRIEN’S COACH. J. JEREMIAH LIDDELL ISN’T SURPRISED THAT HER FAST RISE THE NATIONAL STAGE. I’M NOT SURPRISED AT ALL. SHE’S A PHENOMENAL ATHLETE. SHE’S FASTER AND QUICKER THAN SHE LOOKS. SHE’S INTELLIGENT. AND ONE THING I NOTICE ABOUT TRYING NEW WOMEN FIRSTHAND, I MEAN, WOMEN TEND TO ASK MORE QUESTIONS, ASK MORE QUESTIONS, AND IT OPENS UP MORE KNOWLEDGE OF HER TO USE IN THE RING AS THE TRAINER. MEASUREMENT IS TOO DIFFICULT AND PRETTY ROUGH. SHE DOESN’T COMPLAIN. IS THE EFFORT SHE GIVES? I LOOK AT THE EFFORT SO I KNOW SHE’S TIRED. AT THE END OF THE DAY, BUT SHE PUT IN THE MOST EFFORT EVERY TIME SHE COMES IN THE GYM. IT’S THAT EFFORT THAT CAN FUEL ADRIAN TO HER ULTIMATE GOAL. I WANT TO KEEP GOING LONG AS I CAN WHEN I WIN NATIONALS. IN QUALIFY FOR OLYMPIC TRIALS. AND I’M LOOKING TO GO FOR FAR I CAN. ALL RIGHT SO ADRIAN COULD BECOME AN OLYMPIAN AT SOME POINT. SHE WILL BE ONE OF TWO WOMEN FROM MISSISSIPPI BOXING IN THE NATIONAL GOLDEN GLOVES TOURNAMENT, WHICH STARTS AUGUST 15TH IN TULSA, OKLAHOMA. HOPEFULLY, ADRIAN WILL BRING HOME THE GOLD KEEGAN. ALL RIGHT.
