LAS CRUCES, NM – Head Coach Rick Pratt and the Aggie swimming and diving program have officially solidified a schedule for the upcoming year. The NM State Swimming and Diving Complex will be the site for four meets this season.
“We’re really excited for a new season and our schedule is going to give us many opportunities to grow as a program,” Pratt said. “With so many newcomers we wanted a schedule that we could really build into and give everyone an opportunity to develop. It has a lot of balance and includes some great meets in our home pool. Overall, we have a lot to be excited about.”
The Aggies’ season will get underway with an intrasquad meet set for Wednesday, September 28th, when they compete in the annual Crimson and White Meet. The regular season portion of the schedule then begins on Friday, Oct. 7thwhen they host North Texas.
NM State then hits the road for a pair of back-to-back meets in Colorado. To start the trip, the Aggies will face Northern Colorado in Greeley, Colo. On Friday, Oct. 14. Pratt and his squad will then travel to Golden, Colo., where they will be joined in the pool by Colorado State and Colorado Mines on Saturday, Oct. 15 at the Mines Triangular.
Upon concluding their road trip in The Centennial State, the Aggies will return to Las Cruces for their Alumni Meet on Saturday, Oct. 22, as they wrap up the month of October.
Las Cruces will also be the site of their ensuing meet as they welcome WAC rival Northern Arizona on Saturday, Nov. 5th. The Aggie divers will then repay the visit when they take to Flagstaff, Ariz., for the NAU Diving Invite scheduled for the weekend of Friday, Nov. 18.
NM State’s next meet as a team comes on Saturday, Dec. 3, when it is scheduled to collide with The University of Texas Permian Basin at the NM State Swimming and Diving Complex.
Next, the Aggies will travel to Sin City where they will take part in the UNLV Winter Invite on Saturday, Dec. 17-19. This will mark the last time the Aggies will be in action in 2022 as they begin a 19-day winter break.
Following its time off, NM State will return to action with a three-team home meet versus WAC foes Grand Canyon and Idaho on Saturday, Jan. 7.
The Aggies then get three weeks off as they prepare for a meet with rival New Mexico on Saturday, Jan. 28, in Albuquerque, NM The meeting with the Lobos will also serve as the final time the full team will compete alongside each other prior to the WAC Championships.
However, NM State’s divers will have one more opportunity to tune their skills when they head to Colorado Springs, Colo., to participate in the Air Force Diving Invite on Thursday, Feb. 2-4.
The Aggies will then cap off their season with a trip to Pharr, Texas on Feb. 23-26 to take part in the WAC Championships. Meanwhile, the NCAA Diving Zone Championships will take place on March 7-9 and the NCAA Championships are set for March 16-19.
NM State is coming off a season in which it combined for a total of 476 points to finish fourth at the WAC Championships and collected nine All-WAC awards, including three first team honorees and Maude Boily-Dufour, Aimee Burton spirit Lindsay Puhalski.
Boily-Dufour, Burton and Puhalski are set to return along with 11 other Aggies from last year’s unit. The Aggies’ 2022-23 roster will also include 12 newcomers.
