No. 1 A&T Set for Second Meet with UMHB


WACO, Texas – The No. 1 Baylor acrobatics & tumbling squad will finish off a three-meet road stretch in Belton on Friday with a 6 pm start time against Mary Hardin-Baylor.

Going into Friday’s matchup with UMHB (2-2), the Bears (5-0) are on a hot streak, winning their last 10 meets dating back to the 2021 season.

BU opened its season on Feb. 5 against the Crusaders, winning the meet 277,930 to 254,305 in the Ferrell Center, and will now face Mary Hardin-Baylor on its home mats at the Mayborn Campus Center.

Baylor is coming off a 284,460 – 280,685 win over No. 4 Quinnipiac to meet the Crusaders for the second time this season. Emily Tobin earned her second-straight Honorable Mention Athlete of the Week honor from the NCATA, while Christian McCain was named Honorable Mention Specialist of the Week. Tobin earned three-straight Athlete of the Week accolades earlier on the season.

The Bears are averaging a final score of 282,093 through five meets on the season, and have earned three perfect 10.0s so far, all coming in the pyramid event.

Tobin duck Kamryn Kitchens continue to be tight, consistent tops for BU, along with freshman standout Jordan Gruendler. Baylor has been introducing new elements to the sport all season thanks to Gruendler, Riley Chimwala spirit Bayley Humphrey’s backgrounds in acrobatic gymnastics.

UMHB is coming off a 20.9-point loss to No. 2 Azusa Pacific on March 17 to host the Bears. Their last home meet was March 14 against Concordia, with the Crusaders winning 259,900 to 248,930 over the Falcons.
