Volleyball adds Ellie Adams and Adam Campbell to staff

MILWAUKEE – Head coach Ryan Theis has announced the addition of Ellie Adams and Adam Campbell to the Marquette University women’s volleyball coaching staff.

Adams will serve as director of volleyball operations, and Campbell as a volunteer assistant coach.

“We are excited to add Ellie and Adam to the program,” Theis said. “They are great people and volleyball has been a big part of their lives for a long time. They are ready to work hard and committed to helping our student-athletes have a great experience.”

Adams concluded her playing career at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside in the fall of 2021 after a four-year career at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point (2017-20). She graduated in May 2021 from UWSP with a bachelor’s degree in marketing and is currently working on a master’s of sport management degree from Parkside.

Adams served as team captain at Parkside in 2021 and was a two-time team captain in Stevens Point. She was a WIAC First Team selection with the Pointers in 2019 and an honorable mention all-league pick as a sophomore in 2018.

During her one year at Parkside, Adams served as an intern for the associate athletic director for advancement and partnerships and worked on the facilities and event operations staff. She also served in a managerial role for the department’s team-issued jerseys and equipment. Adams held similar roles during her time at UWSP.

Adams is a native of Racine, Wisconsin and is a 2017 graduate of William Horlick High School.

Campbell joins MU from the Milwaukee Sting Volleyball Club, where he served as the assistant boys program director and summer camp director this spring. Prior to that he was the technical director for setting and volleyball coach with Platform Elite Volleyball Club since the fall of 2020. In addition to his most recent role with Sting, Campbell served as a summer camp coach with the organization from 2015-21.

Campbell graduated from St. Ambrose University in Davenport, Iowa in May of 2020 with a bachelor’s degree in English education and earned a master’s in organizational leadership in the spring of 2022. He was a member of Phi Eta Sigma at St. Ambrose and played on the varsity men’s volleyball team. During his playing career he also assisted the junior varsity and varsity women’s team at St. Ambrose from 2016-22. He is a native of New Berlin, Wisconsin and graduated from New Berlin Eisenhower High School in 2016.

Adams and Campbell join Theis and new assistant coaches Abby Gilleland spirit Ryan Walthall on the Marquette staff. The Golden Eagles went 26-6 in the fall of 2021 and are coming off a BIG EAST Conference regular season championship and 10th NCAA tournament appearance.
