Women’s Volleyball Announces 2022 Schedule; Includes 25 matches

JERSEY CITY, NJ — After a resurgent season in 2021, during which the New Jersey City University women’s volleyball program won 15 games, the most since 2016, and had its highest winning percentage (.600) since 2007, second-year head coach Jordan Robinson has filled his Gothic Knights’ schedule with a challenging 25-match campaign for the 2022 season. This includes eight New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) matches, five road tri-matches and nine contests to be hosted at the John J. Moore Athletics and Fitness Center (JMAC).

The Green and Gold hit the road to start the season on Sept. 3 for a tri-match at Haverford College, where they will face off with Cabrini University in addition to the hosting Fords. Three days later, the Gothic Knights return to the Quaker State for a single match on Sept. 6 against Rosemont College. NJCU finally opens up home play at the JMAC for 2022 with a Sept. 8 meeting with Saint Elizabeth University. NJAC play begins for Jersey City on Sept. 13 when the squad travels to Rutgers-Newark — the two teams played a tight four-setter in Jersey City in 2021 — before returning home for a non-conference clash with Medgar Evers College on Sept. 15. NJCU closes out its first third of the season with a tri-match at Bryn Mawr College on Sept. 17, first against Bryn Athyn College and then against the hosting Owls.

It’s back to conference play on Sept. 20 as the Gothic Knights host their first home NJAC match of the year against Kean University. The squad then heads to Galloway, NJ, for an NJAC clash with Stockton University on Sept. 22. That weekend, Jersey City travels out to Reading, Pa., for a tri-match against Delaware Valley University and host-Alvernia University. NJCU once again returns to the JMAC on Sept. 27 and closes out the month with a match against NJAC foe Rutgers-Camden. Four straight road matches follow for the Gothic Knights. They first head out to Wilkes-Barre, Pa., for a tri-match at Wilkes University and against Neumann University on Oct. 1. NJAC competition resumes briefly for a tilt against Montclair State University on Oct. 4 before closing out the road trip back in Reading for an Oct. 6 matchup with Penn State Berks.

Five of the Green and Gold’s final eight regular-season matches take place at the JMAC. They kick off with a non-conference clash against Albright College on Oct. 7, followed by a NJAC meeting with Ramapo College on Oct. 11 — NJCU defeated the Roadrunners in Mahwah, NJ, in 2021 in four sets for the first win over Ramapo since 2007. After a tri-match in Annandale-on-Hudson, NY, against Skidmore College and hosting-Bard College on Oct. 15, NJCU hits the road for the final time of the season in Glassboro, NJ, against reigning NJAC champion Rowan University on Oct. 18. John Jay College then comes to the West Side of Jersey City for an Oct. 22 non-conference clash at the JMAC. The Gothic Knights then match up with William Paterson University in their NJAC final on Oct. 25 — NJCU topped the Pioneers in four sets in the 2020-21 Spring season, but fell to them in four last year. The regular-season comes to a close on Oct. 28 against Brooklyn College on Coach Charlie Brown Court.
