Jarrett Hensley helps USA East Coast go unbeaten in Spain

Prior to beginning his second season at Cincinnati, Jarrett Hensley got a chance to compete for the USA East Coast in the 30th Anniversary of the Dream Team event, which included training camp in New York and a 3-game series in Barcelona, Spain.

Hensley went down with a minor thigh injury on Sunday afternoon as the club completed an unbeaten run with a third straight double-digit win. In three games, Hensley totaled 20 points, nine rebounds, four assists and one steal in 35 minutes.

Cincinnati Basketball: Jarrett Hensley helps USA East Coast go unbeaten in Spain

Following a short stop in New York City, the team traveled to Barcelona for three games this weekend. In the opener on Friday, USA East Coast beat San Julia All-Stars 85-62 as Hensley compiled eight points, three rebounds, two assists and one steal.

The next night, Team USA took down ACB Select 95-62 as Pittsburgh forward John Hugley racked up 13 points and 15 rebounds. Hensley played well for a second consecutive gameadding eight points, six rebounds and one assist in 12 minutes.

Unfortunately the Bearcats sophomore forward was forced to exit the series finale after taking a knee to his thigh in the second quarter. Hensley had six points and one assist in eight minutes before suffering what seems to be a minor injury.

After jumping out to an early lead, USA East Coast knocked down a pair of clutch triples to win 85-68 and clinch the first-ever undefeated sweep on Sunday afternoon as Hugley and Newman both scored 17 points. Simpson added 13 points.

Hensley should have an opportunity to carve out a consistent role off the bench as Wes Miller will look to develop a dependable rotation. I think Hensley could earn more playing time than last season after averaging 7.6 minutes per game.

The USA East Coast will take a trip along the Mediterranean Sea tomorrow before returning to the United States a day later. The Bearcats are scheduled to start the season on November 16 at Northern Kentucky before heading to the Maui Invitational.
