Coming off a trip to the NCAA Tournament last season that saw the Lady Vols reach the second round, UT prepares to make another run as it faces a 30-match slate this coming fall.
The schedule features 16 home matches, beginning with the Tennessee Classic on Aug. 26-27.
For fans looking to purchase 2022 volleyball season tickets, those will go on sale Tuesday, June 28.
For the 2022 season, the SEC will play back-to-back conference matches – a scheduling format introduced during the hybrid 2020-21 season and continued last fall. Single weekday matches will continue to be played on Wednesday, while single weekend matches will be played Friday, Saturday or Sunday.
Tennessee will face 11 teams that made the NCAA Tournament last season, including Purdue and Pittsburgh who reached the quarterfinals. A full listing of UT’s opponents that appeared in the 2021 postseason can be seen below.

The Citadel – First Round – vs. Tennessee on Saturday, Sept. 10
Western Kentucky – Second Round – vs. Tennessee on Tuesday, Sept. 13
Pittsburgh – Quarterfinals – Tennessee at Pittsburgh on Friday, Sept. 16
Ohio State – Third Round – vs. Tennessee on Saturday, Sept. 17 – Neutral Site
Florida – Third Round – vs. Tennessee on Wednesday, Oct. 5
South Carolina – First Round – vs. Tennessee on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 8-9
Ole Miss – First Round – Tennessee at Ole Miss on Wednesday, Oct. Nov. 2
Kentucky – Second Round – vs. Tennessee on Wednesday, Nov. 16
Mississippi State – First Round – vs. Tennessee on Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 19-20
“We are looking forward to a competitive 2022 season and believe this schedule will prepare us at a high level,” Rackham Watt said. “Coming off of our first true spring season since 2019, our team was able to make significant improvements and identify areas to work on. I am excited about the non-conference slate, which will certainly challenge us. Additionally, the SEC has become a premier conference and every match will require our best.”
The Lady Vols open the 2022 campaign at home as they welcome Loyola Chicago, Bowling Green and Purdue to Thompson-Boling Arena for the Tennessee Classic Aug. 26-27. UT hits the road the following weekend to play Elon, Colgate and NC State in Raleigh, North Carolina, Sept. 2-3.
Tennessee returns home to host New Hampshire, Norfolk State and The Citadel in the Rocky Top Classic Sept. 9-10 before welcoming Western Kentucky to TBA on Tuesday, Sept. 13.
UT closes out its non-conference slate with a road trip to Pittsburgh to face off against the Pitt Panthers and the Ohio State Buckeyes on Sept. 16-17.
The conference schedule opens at home for the second consecutive year as Tennessee plays host to Missouri on Wednesday, Sept. 21. The Lady Vols then head out for a weekend road trip to Texas A&M Sept. 24-25.
Florida kicks off a three-match homestand on Wednesday, Oct. 5 before UT welcomes South Carolina for a pair of SEC matches on Oct. 8-9.
A four-match road swing sees Tennessee visit Arkansas on Oct. 14-15, Auburn on Oct. 21 and Ole Miss on Nov. 2. The Big Orange then plays host to LSU on Nov. 5-6 and Georgia on Nov. 11.
Tennessee visits Kentucky on Nov. 16 before playing its final two regular-season home matches on Nov. 19-20 against Mississippi State.
The Lady Vols conclude the regular season over the Thanksgiving holiday, playing at Alabama on Nov. 23 and 25.
