In 1956, the first ever National Bowling Day was recognized across 48 states. Hundreds of bowling tournaments were held across the nation with the intent of raising money for the American Red Cross. It was originally intended to be a one-time thing, but in the years since, National Bowling Day has always been celebrated on the second Saturday of August.

Bowling is a beloved sport in countless households, in part due to its simplicity. Unlike sports like soccer and basketball, bowling lets you take breaks and take your time on your roll. Lots of bowling leagues out there are full of serious enthusiasts and athletes who love the game – which can, unfortunately, limit the time you have at the bowling alley, or sometimes even take up the entire alley! If you haven’t made reservations for National Bowling Day, don’t fret! You can still have a spectacular Bowling Day without ever stepping into an alley.
