1.20 Ayr – Virgin Bet Handicap (1m)
Since moving to George Boughey’s yard earlier this season, COMFORTABLE has been in good shape. He won over this distance at Newmarket back in July off a 2lb lower mark than his present one.
The three-year-old also made the frame last time out at Newbury (1m). Jim Crowley has been booked for the ride and the pair have a great chance of landing the opener.
Selection: Koy Koy @ 4/1 with Paddy Power
1.40 Newbury – Dubai Duty Free Legacy Cup Stakes (Group 3, 1m 3f)
The royal blue silks of Godolphin are represented by three horses in the Legacy Cup Stakes. Adam Kirby has had the choice of the two Charlie Appleby runners and he has opted to partner SISKANY. The son of Dubawi prevailed in a Listed race at Meydan earlier this year and he should be fresh for his first appearance in the UK in 2022.
Selection: Siskany @ 10/3 with Paddy Power
1.55 Ayr – Virgin Bet Doonside Cup Stakes (Listed, 1m 2f)
With three wins from his previous four starts, PHANTOM FLIGHT has been in excellent form this year. He deserves to step up to Listed company as he was far too good for his rivals on his latest outing in a handicap contest 1m 2½f over at York.
There is likely to be much more to come from this colt and he may not be done improving yet.
Selection: Phantom Flight @ 13/8 with Paddy Power
2.15 Newbury – Dubai International Airport World Trophy Stakes (Group 3, 5f)
It didn’t quite work out for MITBAAHY last time out at Goodwood in the Group 2 King George Qatar Stakes but before that run this sprinter had been in good form.
He picked up back-to-back wins at Hamilton and Sandown, then finished second to Raasel in a Group 3 race at Sandown. Roger Varian’s runner should be taken to bounce back on his drop down in grade.
Selection: Mitbaahy @ 7/1 with Paddy Power
2.30 Ayr – Virgin Bet Ayr Silver Cup Handicap (6f)
It remains to be seen which side of the draw will be more beneficial in the Ayr Silver Cup, but if it is the low numbers, EMPEROR SPIRIT is in the perfect position in stall one.
Archie Watson’s runner has finished second off this mark twice this season. He has a good chance of going one place better as a big field will suit the gelding who is rated 6lb higher on the all-weather.
Selection: Emperor Spirit @ 12/1 with Paddy Power
2.50 Newbury – Dubai Duty Free Mill Reef Stakes (Group 2, 6f)
SACHER has an entry in the Group 1 Middle Park Stakes later this month, so given how highly his connections think of him, Roger Varian’s runner looks the one to beat in this two-year-old contest. He was very impressive when getting off the mark at Haydock by six lengths this month.
Selection: Sakheer @ 1/1 with Paddy Power
3.05 Ayr – Virgin Bet Firth Of Clyde Fillies’ Stakes (Group 3, 6f)
Kevin Ryan’s filly QUEEN ME has done little wrong so far in her career. She got off the mark at the first attempt at Haydock (6f), before finishing second in a Group 3 contest over the same trip at York, a neck behind the winner. This is an easier assignment and based on what she has produced to date, she sets the standard.
Selection: Queen Me @ 6/4 with Paddy Power
3.25 Newbury – Dubai Duty Free Handicap (1m 2f)
WARREN POINT has suffered just one defeat to date in his career and he prevailed in a handicap contest for the first time when scoring at Goodwood over this distance back in July.
Charlie Appleby’s runner has been put up 8lb in the official ratings but, with more improvement likely, he can defy that rise in this Class 2 handicap.
Selection: Warren Point @ 3/1 with Paddy Power
3.40 Ayr – Virgin Bet Ayr Gold Cup Handicap (6f)
Since being gelded at the end of last year, KHANJAR has prevailed in two of his three appearances. He finished his race strongly at Haydock last time out to score by just under two lengths.
William Haggas’s runner has a 5lb penalty on his back for his latest success, but he looks to still be off a mark that gives him a great chance of landing this lucrative handicap contest.
Selection: Khanjar @ 4/1 with Paddy Power
