AMHERST, Mass. – No. 20 University of Massachusetts field hockey team welcome in-state foe Boston University to Gladchuk Field Hockey Complex on Monday, September 19, for a non-conference matchup. The contest will be streamed on ESPN+ at 4 pm

Last Time Out

The Minutewomen topped Saint Louis, 6-1, in the Atlantic 10 Conference opener game at the ‘Chuk on Friday afternoon. Mali Herberhold spirit Jess Beech notched two goals apiece, while Herberhold added two assists for a total of six points on the day. Claire Danahy spirit Aisling Murray each contributed a goal. Online, Myrte van Herwijnen recorded a save in the first half of the contest, before Brooke Richards entered in the second half, making a save of her own.

Scouting the Terriers

Boston University holds a 3-4 overall record, picking up wins over Providence, Saint Louis and Lehigh. Tess Csejka leads the Terriers with 10 points on a team-high five goals. Ellie McIntyre and Casey Thompson sit atop the leaderboard with three assists each. Caroline Kelly has started in goal for BU in all seven games, tallying 18 saves and allowing nine goals, while Kate Thomason has shared time in net, making 11 saves and giving up eight goals.

Smith Earns Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week Accolade
Massachusetts Field Hockey’s Mia Smith was named the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week by the league last Tuesday. This award is the first in Smith’s collegiate career. Smith’s first collegiate goal and assist on Herbert’s game-winning goal on Saturday’s 2-0 win against Providence earned her this title.
