Ocean Co. field hockey for Sep 28: Toms River So. wins in OT, Pt. Pleasant shuts out again


Sophomore Eva Schilling scored the game-winning goal in overtime to help lift Toms River South to a 2-1 win over Brick Memorial in Toms River.

Freshman Brooke Weyandt scored the tying goal in the fourth quarter for Toms River South (5-4), which has won four of its last five games. Sophomore goalie Brielle Berruti finished with six saves.

Senior Lauren Slobiski gave Brick Memorial (1-6-1) the lead in the second period with assists from sophomore Maggie Leach and senior Megan Ingenito. Senior goalie Kylee McCauley-Kriegsman made 10 saves.

Donovan Catholic 3, Jackson Liberty 1

Senior Ava Grenham scored twice to help lift Donovan Catholic to a 3-1 win over Jackson Liberty in Jackson.

Junior Julia Schirripa had a goal for Donovan Catholic (2-4-1), which snapped a three-game losing streak. Junior goalie Evelynn Sernotti finished with nine saves.

Junior Queeni Lin had a goal for Jackson Liberty (1-6-1) with an assist from junior Jackie Casale. Sophomore Ava Bocchiaro put up 21 saves.

Barnegat 3, Pinelands 0

Junior Alyson Sojak scored two goals and senior Camryn White added one as Barnegat shut out Pinelands 3-0 in Barnegat.

Sophomores Emilia Ercolino and Jayna Greenblatt and senior Patience Mares each had an assist for Barnegat (6-2-1), which earned its fifth shutout of the season. Junior goalie Emalie Menegus made 11 saves.

Senior Emma Kohler finished with 29 saves for Pinelands (3-4).

Lacey 8, Manchester Township 0

Junior Autumn Mangan produced a hat trick and sophomore Zoey Smith had two goals and an assist as Lacey blanked Manchester Township 8-0 in Lanoka Harbor.

Senior Isabelle Merola put up three assists while freshmen Brooke McGinley and Brooklynn Bell and senior Sydnie Glover each had a goal for Lacey (7-1-1), which got its fifth shutout of the campaign.

Senior Madison Phillips-Frazee finished with seven saves for Manchester Township (1-5-2).

Southern 9, Toms River East 0

Junior Leigha Clapp scored twice, junior Jessica Bruther had a goal and three assists and sophomores Avery DiPietro and Avery Smith each tallied a goal and an assist as Southern overpowered Toms River East 9-0 in Toms River.

Seniors Olivia Davis and Jenna Sarnoski, junior Emme Beck and Kate Saxon had a goal apiece for Southern (6-4). Freshman goalie Kathleen Brennan made five saves.

Senior Josephine Mckenna finished with 14 saves for Toms River East (0-6).

No. 6 Point Pleasant Boro 10, Lakewood 0

Freshman Haley Fox had two goals while freshman Ella Knapp and sophomore Camryn Johnson added a goal and an assist each as sixth-ranked Point Pleasant Boro got its 10th straight shutout with a 10-0 win over Lakewood in Point Pleasant.

Codi Damerau, Jessica DeLong, Caroline DeKenipp, Kylee Durso, Eden Hansen and Brianna Boczkus each had a goal for Point Pleasant Boro (10-0).

Sophomore Amy Krysa came up with 22 saves for Lakewood (0-6).
